Dr. Kalima Charway Ph.D., LP, LSSP

Dr. Charway completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University in Washington D.C and earned her Ph.D. in School and Counseling Psychology from the University at Buffalo. At the University at Buffalo, Dr. Charway was trained in psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments, functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, consultations, individual counseling, and group counseling.

She was also trained in Cognitive Behavioral and Rogerian Therapy. Dr. Charway completed her APA-accredited internship at the Fort Worth Independent School District where she was trained in school-based assessments, individual education plans, school-based intervention plans, and school consultation.

Throughout Dr. Charway’s educational and professional career, she has practiced in several different settings such as a long-term inpatient psychiatric hospital, school, community counseling center, and partial outpatient treatment program.

Currently, Dr. Charway is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) and a Licensed Psychologist (LP). She provides counseling, assessment, and consultation to children, adolescents, and adults.

She is trained to work with children, adolescents, and adults with mood disorders, autism and developmental disorders, attention disorders, neurocognitive disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma, and behavior disorders. Her professional interests include but are not limited to children, adolescents, and adults with behavioral difficulties, learning disabilities, emotional dysregulation, and significant trauma.
