Mikayla Garcia is a clinical provider at Carewright Clinical Services. She assists in completing clinical interviews for patients needing pre-surgical clearance evaluations. Mikayla also provides counseling services for adult individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. She is currently receiving licensure as a psychological associate and works under the supervision of Dr. Penny Drake and Dr. Kalima Charway.
Mikayla completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Tarleton State University in 2018. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of Texas at Tyler in 2021. During her master’s program, Mikayla completed an internship with the Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center where she provided Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to children ages 4 to 17 who experienced forms of abuse and/or trauma. She also completed her internship with Carewright Clinical Services before being hired on as a clinical provider.
With her background in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, Mikayla believes everyone has their own experiences and it is important for the therapeutic journey to be tailored to the individual. Her goal is to allow individuals’ voices to be heard in a safe environment. She strives to collaboratively work with individuals to process emotions and navigate challenges in life.
