Cherie Barton, Licensed Professional Counselor, NCC

Cherie is a licensed professional counselor and nationally certified counselor assisting to complete psychological surgical clearance evaluations for Carewright Clinical Services.

Cherie completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia College and her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Argosy University. She was trained to perform assessments, diagnose mental health illnesses, create care plans, provide individual counseling, group counseling, and substance abuse treatment.

Cherie completed her internship in community mental health settings, psychiatric hospitals, and a correctional facility, where she performed psychiatric assessments, developed treatment plans, psychoeducational programs (e.g., substance abuse education and recovery), and individual/group counseling. Cherie is also member of the Texas Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association.

 

Cherie’s areas of interest are military/combat trauma, correctional facility inmate treatment, and pain management. Her eclectic theoretical orientation contains strong Gestalt aspects of therapy as she seeks to help people develop awareness, inner strength and self-sufficiency through focusing on the present issues rather than the past.
