Dr. Penny Drake, Ph.D.

Dr. Drake is a mental health provider and the chief operations officer (COO) of Carewright Clinical Services. Dr. Drake completes a variety of psychological evaluations (e.g., medical psychological clearances and personality/IQ testing) and supervises interns while overseeing the daily business operations of the company. Dr. Drake works closely with office managers to support the day-to-day activity of employees.

Dr. Drake started her undergraduate degree at Roane State Community College where she was Vice President of Membership for Phi Theta Kappa from 2008 to 2009. She then went on to the University of Tennessee before completing her bachelor’s degree at Ashford University with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology. She earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology at Waldon University where she was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. In December 2021, Dr. Drake graduated from Walden University with her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Dr. Drake is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Dallas Psychological Association, and the Texas Psychological Association.

Dr. Drake completed her doctoral dissertation and is well-researched about the perception of disability from chronic pain and the emotional/behavioral problems alongside patients’ satisfaction with their pain management. Thus, she has developed a passion for working with those suffering from chronic pain. Additionally, Dr. Drake is also knowledgeable about bariatric surgeries and dealing with poor eating behaviors. Further, while completing her practicum at Rockwall County Jail and working a few years as a parole officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, she gained a wealth of understanding and knowledge on the difficulties surrounding incarceration and recidivism.

Dr. Drake’s theoretical orientation is person-centered alongside the use of cognitive behavioral therapy and positive psychology. She aims to provide a nonjudgmental atmosphere where the patient’s needs drive the course of treatment. Dr. Drakes’ areas of interest/specialty include learning, behavior, mood, psychotic, and personality disorders.
