Melinda is a Licensed Master Social Worker completing her clinical license supervision hours at Carewright Clinical Services. She works as a residential home mental health counselor in various residential homes in Central Texas. Additionally, Melinda assists in completing clinical interviews for pre-surgical psychological evaluations for Carewright.
Melinda completed her undergraduate in social work at Eastern Connecticut State University. During this time Melinda completed her internship at the Department of Children and Families for the state of Connecticut, where she was trained in investigations, structural systems, and trauma-informed care. Melinda was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society and was issued Cum Laude upon graduation. Melinda completed her graduate studies in social work at Fordham University. She completed her graduate internship at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center in Kansas where she was trained in grief, crisis management, and state and federal funding.
Melinda has experience working with cognitive and physical disabilities as she worked as a certified nursing assistant throughout the school. She has experience with the geriatric and medically fragile population. Following graduation, Melinda worked in a 90-bed psychiatric residential treatment center for adolescents with emotional/behavioral problems. Melinda was able to provide group therapy, individual psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, treatment planning, family therapy, and psychoeducation.
Melinda has training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Melinda currently provides psychological evaluations and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations.
Melinda’s areas of interest/specialty include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder.
